Jack Petchey Silver and Leader Awards

We are proud to be part of the Jack Petchey Achievement Silver Award Scheme. This scheme enables us to celebrate the achievements of our young people and adult volunteers, both within and outside of Scouting.

The silver award winners are young people who have gone above and beyond to achieve – they may be used to recognise a personal triumph for someone who has faced a challenge, a young person who has pushed themselves outside of their comfort zone, or it may be an opportunity to recognise the outstanding efforts of a team player.

The leader award winners are adult volunteers who are at least 21 years old, have been involved in the organisation for at least a year and work regularly with our young people. Have been selected for recognition by young people themselves for their ability to encourage and motivate our young people.

The Achievement Awards are primarily about recognising those who put in the effort and do their best. – Sir Jack Petchey CBE

Nominate a young person

The silver award scheme allows us to award 6 of our Scouts and Explorer Scouts each year. Each winner receives £300 to be spent on something of their choice that will benefit the group. This could be used to organise a fun activity or trip, a nights-away experience, or to purchase equipment. Each winner is invited to a celebration event where they receive a framed certificate and pin badge and have the chance to share their achievements.

Nominations are accepted from anyone involved with our group, this especially includes the young people themselves.

These are just a few examples that we welcome nominations, to reward our young people for:

  • Being a role model to others, this could be as a Young Leader or equally outside of Scouting
  • Overcome a personal challenge or develop their skills by going above and beyond
  • Recognise outstanding efforts as a team player who has put others first
  • Shown commitment to a volunteering role within an organisation or club
  • Regular contributions to their wider community
  • Environmental work
  • Overcoming an illness
  • Just being kind and helpful
Nominate an adult volunteer

Only one leader award can be given per calendar year, with an award grant of up to £1,000 to enhance their work with our young people.
