Our Future

Our Vision 2023

By 2023 we will have prepared more young people with skills for life, supported by our amazing leaders and delivered an inspiring programme.

We will be growing, become more inclusive, shaped by young people and making a bigger impact in our community.

Our Mission

Through The 4th Bay Scout Group we will actively engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to their community and wider society.

Our Values

As Scouts we are guided by these values:

  • Care – We support others and take care of the world in which we live.
  • Respect – We have self-respect and respect for others.
  • Integrity – We act with integrity; we are honest, trustworthy and loyal.
  • Cooperation – We make a positive difference; we cooperate with others and make friends.
  • Belief – We explore our faiths, beliefs and attitudes.
  • Our Objectives 2020

    1. We want to grow our Scout community – We believe our Scouts change lives and so we want to give every young person six to eighteen in our community the opportunity to join
    2. We actively encourage inclusivity – Everyone regardless of their background, should be able to participate
    3. We want to be more Youth Shaped – Encouraging every young person to shape their experience and develop their leadership potential.
    4. We want to make an impact in our Community – Through social action, our Scouts can make a difference not just to the individual but the whole community.

    The Three Pillars

To meet these objectives, we will focus on three pillars of work:
    Programme
    People
    Perception

Providing A fun, enjoyable, high quality programme consistently delivered and supported by simple (digital) tools.
With more, well trained, better supported and motivated adult volunteers, and more young people from as diverse backgrounds as possible; leading to Scouting being understood, more visible, trusted, respected and widely seen as playing a key role in our community.

    Outcomes for our Scouts

Being a Scout provides you with skills and we firmly believe that these skills stay with you for life.

More likely to demonstrate leadership in their lives
More likely to show emotional intelligence
More likely to be able to work well in teams
More likely to demonstrate mental resilience
More likely to help out in their local area community, feel greater responsibility to their community and volunteer to help others
Spend time with people from different backgrounds different to their own and respecting those differences.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
