Scout Active Support

4th Thorpe Bay Scout Group is opening a Scout Active Support Unit. An Active Support Unit is the perfect place for anyone who wants to join the adventure of Scouting, without any regular commitment. All you need to do is turn up, with a willingness to get stuck in. While we provide the good times and all the skills you need.

This unit will be aiming at three objectives:

Fundraising, Social Events and Skills

Help to use skills members have or help when sections need it.

Fundraising
Will help assist and organise fundraising activities.

Social events
For the members. Not just to help, but to join the adventure and have fun. While being in an active support unit, this could be going to a theme park for the day or a day at the races.

Skills
Would be to help our groups sections utilise the skills the members have or help when sections need it.

What is an active support unit?

Scout Active Support is for anyone over the age of 18 years. It is a way for adults to volunteer time to Scouting in a flexible way that suits them.

There is no requirement to have been involved in Scouting before joining. All that is required is a willingness to volunteer some time to support Scouting.

Scout Active Support allows people to give their time to Scouting on a flexible basis. People can still be involved in Scouting without the full-time commitment of being a leader.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
