London Monopoly Run 2020

Date: 23rd Jul 2020 Author: Scouts Thursday

Patriot ESU entered the national Monopoly Run 2020 in London for the first time. Having run a successful one locally for our feeder troops, we decided to go for the big one with over 4 thousand other scouts from all over the UK. We weren’t disappointed the day started at 6.30 at Thorpe Bay Station to make our way to Waterloo station, with a packed station full of teams of Scouts, Explorers and Leaders. We were allocated in a random group which we were playing against. We started with vigur to find the various points on the board game, trying to collect a set of properties before the other teams. Excitement grew when we were confirmed as being the first to land on a property but closely followed by disappointment when we had to pay rent on another one. opportunities to gain extra money by sending in photos of random objects and shops, as well as an ongoing quiz. As we purchased a travel card it allowed us to use trains, busses and the tube, as a group we walked over 30,000 steps. A great way to explore London and meet lots of other Scouts. We managed to find and log all but 2 places on the board, which for the first time was a great result. We are now looking forward to 2021
