Ringwood 34th Pedal Car Grand Prix 2023
Date: 27th Jul 2023
Author: Explorers
Fresh from our wins at Shenington the month before, our 2 teams of scouts and explorers traveled down to New Forest to take part in our first Pedal Car Grand Prix in Ringwood. The event is not part of the main Championship but all the main teams are represented with a few more local ones to add to the grid of 37 cars. Some wacky designs with matching fancy dress was a big part of the carnival atmosphere, live music and race commutators entertained the large crowd of over 7 hundred who lined the narrow streets and cobbled lanes.
Our teams Olivia, Jess, Molly and Emily rode the number 16 car and William, Cooper and Jamie manned the number 25 car. We had 2 hours to navigate the tricky circuit trying not to hit the curbs, barriers and avoiding other cars which reached over 25 mph.
With our parents support and Chester the Chimp waving us on we completed the event without incident. It was hard work, but what an experience to race in front of so many people.
Everyone went away feeling really proud of our achievement.
